How It Works

How Hair Removal Actually Works

Hair does not grow on a single schedule. At any given moment only a portion of the hair in an area is actively growing, and only actively growing hair responds to treatment. That is the entire reason this is a course rather than one appointment, and it is why your sessions are spaced weeks apart.

Across a course, the hair that does regrow tends to come back finer, sparser and slower. Most people reach a point where the area is manageable with occasional maintenance rather than constant upkeep. What we are working towards is a substantial, lasting reduction, not a permanently bare area, and we are clear about that difference.

Results depend on the individual. Hair colour and coarseness, the area being treated, and hormonal factors all influence how hair responds. We assess your skin type and your hair at consultation, match the settings to you, and tell you honestly what a course is likely to do on your specific areas.

The aim is lasting reduction and easier upkeep, not total removal.
Why People Choose It

Four Reasons Women Book a Course

01

An End to the Weekly Routine

Shaving, waxing and the schedule they impose take up more time than most people admit to.

02

Fewer Ingrown Hairs

Areas that react badly to razors and wax are often calmer once the regrowth thins out.

03

Treated by a Nurse Practitioner

Your consultation and every session are handled by a board certified clinician, not a counter technician.

04

A Course Planned Around You

Areas, spacing and settings are set at your assessment and adjusted as your hair responds.

What It Supports

What a Full Course Supports

Reduction builds session by session, and most people notice the change in how fast hair returns before they notice the change in density.

01

Noticeably Thinner Regrowth

Hair that returns between sessions tends to be finer and far less obvious than before.

02

Longer Gaps Between Upkeep

The stretch where you need to do nothing at all gets steadily longer across the course.

03

Calmer Skin in Sensitive Areas

Underarms and bikini areas that react to shaving and waxing often settle as regrowth thins.

04

Fewer Trapped Hairs

Reducing the volume of coarse regrowth supports skin that is prone to irritated, ingrown hairs.

05

Areas Chosen by You

Face, underarms, arms, legs, bikini and back are each planned as their own area.

06

A Maintenance Rhythm

Once the course is finished we agree a spacing for occasional sessions that keeps things steady.

Science and Safety

Skin Type, Assessed Before Treatment

Skin tone and skin type genuinely matter here, and anyone who tells you otherwise is not being careful. We assess your skin type and your hair type before your first session, talk through your history of sun exposure and self tanning, and match the settings to you as an individual. If we do not think treatment is appropriate, we say so.

A patch test comes before a full session, so we can see how your skin responds before committing to a whole area. Ansa Kandamkulathy, a board certified family nurse practitioner, reviews your medications and medical history first, because some medications and conditions make treatment unsuitable. That review happens before anything is booked in.

A Course, Then Maintenance.

Hair is reduced across a planned series of sessions, and after that the areas you treated stay easy with occasional visits.

What to Expect

Before, During and After a Session

Come to your session with the area shaved and clean, no oils, lotions or deodorant on the skin, and no recent sun or self tanner. We go through all of this with you in writing at consultation. If you have been in the sun, tell us, because we would far rather reschedule than treat skin that is not ready.

Sessions are quick, and smaller areas take only minutes. Most people describe a brief snapping sensation with each pulse. Afterwards the area often looks a little pink and feels warm for a few hours. We give you aftercare, ask you to keep away from heat and sun for a couple of days, and book the next visit.

Shave the area, and skip lotions and deodorant on the day.
Avoid sun and self tanner in the weeks before a session.
Expect brief warmth and pinkness for a few hours afterwards.
Waxing, plucking and threading pause for the length of your course.
Questions

What Women Ask Us Most

Most people need a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart, and the number depends on the area, your hair and how it responds. We set the plan at your assessment rather than quoting a figure over the phone. Legs are a large area, so we schedule them with that in mind.

Hair colour and coarseness affect how hair responds, and very light, grey or fine hair typically responds less well than dark, coarse hair. We assess this at consultation and tell you honestly if we do not expect a good outcome. We would rather turn a booking down than take one we cannot deliver on.

Facial areas are commonly requested and are planned as their own area with their own spacing. Facial hair can be influenced by hormonal factors, which affects how it behaves over time and how much maintenance it needs. We talk all of that through before we plan a course.

Yes. Shaving is fine, and it is exactly what we ask you to do before each session. What we ask you to avoid during your course is waxing, plucking and threading, because those remove the hair we are aiming to treat.

We assess your skin type before treating and match the settings to the individual, and we ask about recent sun exposure and self tanner at every visit. If your skin is currently tanned we will usually reschedule rather than treat. This is a conversation to have in person at your consultation.
